How about Diane Chamberlain? I loved Chamberlain's works, THE SECRET LIFE OF CECE WILKES, and the dual series that involved the Lockwood family, I'm sorry, but I don't generally keep books once I'm done, and titles are escaping me right now. I think D C's work got better with time, one of her titles about two families trying to keep their teenagers apart, written in the '90's, was really something of a copycat of the film LONE STAR.

I'm a huge fan of Mary Higgins Clark. I also enjoy the books by her daughter Carol, although she does not have the dramatic flare of her mother. Her books are on the lighter side and full of quirky characters. But the endings are usually pretty suspenseful, and these mysteries can provide a nice break from more serious fare.

My favorites by MHC would probbably be, "Loves Music, Loves to Dance," and, "The Cradle Will Fall." I haven't read all that many of her books yet though. So much to read, so little time... Actually, I hate starting a new book. Once i'm in to the book, I can't put it down, but starting one is a real chore for me.

I just finished 'Just Take My Heart'. I give it 4 1/2 out of 5...5 is a rare award, I've only given it to Stephen King's 'Bag of Bones'. Mrs. Clark has a second home here in Cape Cod, and IMNSHO she bases some of her stories on the antics of the Kennedy family, and this story is no exception. 'Daddy's Little Girl' reminded me of the case of Michael Skakel, whose trial was a big news story when I moved here.

I was introduced to Mary Higgins Clark when I took a trip to the library while in high school and my mother found one of the audiobooks on the new releases rack. I think it was Silent Night, and I really enjoyed that one. My favorites are Moonlight Becomes You, Silent Night, and Loves Music, Loves to Dance. I think the narrator (Mary Pfeiffer) really made the books come to life. Her quirky couple, Alvirah and Willie Meehan are adorable!
I have to say though that after reading a few of Clark's books, it was a little too easy for me to identify the killer so I haven't read any of her material in several years.

I loved "Where Are The Children" based on an incident in New York state and a woman named Alice Crimmins back in the '60's; the one where the lawyer's ex girlfriend was trying to make his wife think she was insane to win him back, can't remember the title right now; "Loves Music Loves to Dance" was good...can't what "The Cradle will Fall" was about, but I remember one where a woman married a man she didn't know for very long & he proved to be absolutely psychotic, killing their newborn son, was that it? There was one really good one that took place in a fertility clinic. I thought "Moonlight Becomes You" was a bit too bizarre to be believable. MHC fans who are also John Saul fans, I wouldn't bother myself with his "Faces of Fear", as just reading the plotline on the book jacket, it looks like a copy cat of "Moonlight Becomes You."

I recently finished another book of Clarks's. It's been quite awhile since I've read one of hers. This one was called Where Are You Now, and it was based on a true case. A sister tries to get the investigation of her brother's disappearance reopened after ten years with surprising results. Instead of getting help finding him simply because he was never found, all of a sudden the police now suspect he disappeared due to some sort of mental breakdown and that he is now the serial killer who is responsible for killing three or four women in the area over the past ten years. His sister now not only wants to find him but wants to prove he is not a killer.

Clark got the idea for this book after reading an article in a newspaper about an elderly lady who has been getting one phone call a year from her son who has been missing for 35 years.
